Discount Saints is multimedia art project which is composed of a series of photos of saintly portraits and repeating video scenes of contemporized Catholic Saints.
Inspired by gold jewelry, hair rollers, and religious iconography, Discount Saints explores my appreciation for classical biblical paintings and identification with contemporary black and Latino culture in New York City.
Discount Saints was exhibited at Medianoche New Media Gallery and Digital Film Studio, 2015-16.
This project was realized with an Arts Fund grant from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
Discount Saints has since been exhibited at Temporary Storage Gallery, The Andrew Freedman Home, The Clemente Gallery, Rio III Gallery, DROM, and The Cooper Union.
The series has been featured in articles and conversations on VICE, PAPER, Mitú, DNAinfo, WBAI 99.5FM, BX200, News12 The Bronx, BronxNet's OPEN, and Vice Versa Mag.
